Second day second city. We arrived in Waterloo and tried to get some rest. One of our members had to go to the emergency room because of a worsening medical situation. The rest of us prepared ourselves to begin our work in Waterloo in the morning - no matter what situations arose we were aware of the worsening situation in the Vanni and determined to continue. After her insistence on continuing and getting a doctors clearance we continued. Arriving at Waterloo we set up and immediately held the teach in with Waterloo TSA. Several dozen students made time between a busy schedule of exams and studies to make it out to the teach-in. A strong information session with an enthusiastic response for volunteers began a day of tabling and communicating with local associations and politicians. A strong day ended with worsening news from Sri Lanka: the Sri Lankan goverment has demanded all medical staff to leave the Vanni, leaving all the Tamil civilians trapped in the region without medical services or assistance.
Everyday the Genocide of Tamils takes on a more personal note, reminding us how are loved ones are in danger as loved ones disappear.
